The construction of this kit starts with the cockpit section which is quite simple and lacks some detail. Decals are only provided for the main instrument panels. After placing the cockpit between the main fuselage halves, these are glued together, and the lower fuselage is put on it's place. The aerial before the front wheelbay has to be removed, as well as the bump on the lower rear fuselage. Next are the airintakes and the engine outlets, the two part wings and the tailplanes. The landing gears are tackeled next, as is the arrestor hook. Before you add the nosecone you need to add weight, the instructions say 2 gram, but some more might be wise. Aerials and the inflight refuling probe are next, and with the addition of the canopy the airframe itself is complete. The final stage is for the underwing stores. Here you can choose between fuel tanks and 2, 3 or 5 ECM pods, depending on how many fueltanks are used.
Two decal options are provided, both for the same aircraft from VAQ-136 "Gauntlets" The aircraft is camouflaged in a two tone gray paintscheme with low visibility markings. It has a small CAG logo on the rudder. The first option is for the aircraft during July 1994, the second for April 1994 with a different crew. A complete set of stenciling is included.
This is a nice reboxing of the prowler kit, although it's not a real colorful CAG bird, it's a CVW-5 aircraft, which seems to be a populair subject, It's a nice addition to other aircraft already released by Hasegawa or to aircraft that are released after this one, for aircraft of CVW-5 on the USS Independence, otherwise, this release ain't that special.
